Introduction
The Great Karakorum Traverse is among the world's highest and longest walking routes. It travels through barren high plateaus, verdant valleys, and breathtaking scenery as it winds beneath the highest peaks in the world and stops at some of the world's most isolated settlements.
The trail travels nearly the whole length of Pakistan's Karakoram Range, from Skardu to Khaplu Valley, before continuing on past the Baltoro, Biafo, and Hispar Glaciers to Hunza and Gilgit.
Gondogoro La and the enormous Baltoro Glacier, which offers the most breathtaking mountain views in the world, can be reached following a multi-day walk through the Hushe Valley in the Karakoram.
