Introduction
The high-altitude glacier basin traversed by the Pakistani Snow Lake-Hispar La Trek is over 16 kilometers wide. This magnificent region, situated at the top of the Biafo and Hispar glaciers, serves as an old ice highway connecting the two great mountain kingdoms of Hunza in the west and Baltistan in the east.
The Biafo-Hispar glacier is the second longest glacier outside of the Polar Regions, measuring 120 kilometers in total length. You may experience a remote and uncharted region of the Karakoram that is rarely frequented by other trekking groups. This unspoiled terrain is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the elusive snow leopard, ibex, Markhor, and Himalayan bears.
Because of its well-known challenges and rewards, the Snow Lake region is regarded by trekkers and mountaineers as one of the most challenging yet rewarding locations in the Karakoram. Porters and the group must rope up for safety at several points along the trek. The trail goes across moraine ridges, traverses glacial streams, and passes through several tributary glaciers. The stunning mountain views and quaint campgrounds along the way make this an unforgettable adventure.
